Short answerIndian citizens need a visa to visit Australia. Your visa sets how long you can stay.

How long you can stay
Your visa sets how long you can stay.
What you need
  • Valid passport
  • Visitor visa (subclass 600) application via ImmiAccount
  • Evidence of sufficient funds for the stay
  • Evidence of intention to depart Australia (genuine temporary entrant)
Good to know
India is not on the eligible-passport list for Australia's Electronic Travel Authority (subclass 601) or the eVisitor (subclass 651), both of which are restricted to a specific set of countries (e.g. USA, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Hong Kong for ETA; EU/UK/EEA-aligned passports for eVisitor). Indian citizens must instead apply in advance for the general Visitor visa (subclass 600), which the Department of Home Affairs' own page describes as being for 'tourists, business visitors or to visit family for 3, 6 or 12 months' — the exact grant length is decided case-by-case by a visa officer, so there is no fixed self-service stay length to quote.
