Short answerChinese citizens need a visa to visit Australia. Your visa sets how long you can stay.

How long you can stay
Your visa sets how long you can stay.
What you need
  • Valid Chinese (PRC) passport
  • Completed Visitor visa (subclass 600) online application
  • Evidence of purpose of visit and funds
  • For the Approved Destination Status (ADS) stream: booking through an ADS-approved travel agent for a group tour
Good to know
China is not an ETA (subclass 601) or eVisitor (subclass 651) eligible passport, so PRC passport holders must apply in advance for a Visitor visa (subclass 600). Australia's Home Affairs domain (immi.homeaffairs.gov.au / homeaffairs.gov.au) returned 403 Forbidden on every direct fetch attempt in this session, so this was instead confirmed via the Australian Embassy in Beijing's own site, which describes the subclass 600 Approved Destination Status (ADS) stream specifically for PRC passport holders on approved group tours, and references a separate Frequent Traveller stream (with biometric collection for applicants in China) offering longer multi-entry validity. Exact per-visit stay lengths (which vary by stream/grant, e.g. 3/6/12 months for standard grants, ~90 days per visit under Frequent Traveller) were not confirmable on an accessible official page this session, so no single maxDays figure is asserted.
