Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-10-26

Odyssway is built so that we learn as little about you as possible. You can use every tool on this site without an account, and we don't use cookies, advertising or tracking. This policy explains the little that does reach us, and your rights.

Who is responsible

The data controller is Yasna Mineva, a private individual based in Bulgaria, who runs Odyssway (odyssway.com).

Contact for anything about privacy: support@odyssway.com.

What stays in your browser

  • Trips, dates and travellers you enter in the calculator are processed only in your browser. If you turn on "remember on this device", they're saved in your browser's local storage, on your device only. Turn it off or clear your browser data to delete them.
  • Passport-expiry reminders, calendar files (.ics) and PDF reports are created in your browser. We never receive them.
  • Share links keep your trips (and, for Trip Check, your route and the items you entered) after the # in the link. Browsers never send that part to a server, so we don't see it. Anyone you give the link to can read what's in it.
  • EES template letters are filled in and downloaded in your browser. We never see what you write.

We don't receive any of this.

What reaches us

1. Standard server logs. When your browser loads a page, our hosting provider records technical details of the request: your IP address, the address of the page (including anything in it before a #, such as the nationality and destination in a Trip Check link), the time, and your browser type. This is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure.

  • Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Retention: our hosting dashboard keeps function logs for at most one day. The hosting provider may keep security and infrastructure logs for longer under its own policy. We don't copy or analyse these logs, and we don't build profiles from them.

2. Item searches with no answer. If you search Trip Check for an item we have no verified rule for, we record the text you typed (up to 100 characters) and the destination code, and nothing else, so we know what to research next. Please don't type personal information into that box.

  • Legal basis: legitimate interest in improving our coverage (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Retention: in the same short-lived logs as above.

3. Emails you send us. If you write to support@odyssway.com, we receive your address and whatever you write, and use it only to reply.

  • Legal basis: legitimate interest in answering you (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Retention: deleted once the conversation is finished, normally within 12 months, unless we need to keep it to deal with a legal claim.

Cookies and tracking

We set no cookies, run no analytics, and show no ads. Local storage is used only when you ask the calculator to remember your trips, which is strictly necessary for that feature, so no consent banner is needed. If we ever add analytics, we'll update this policy first.

Fonts and images are served from our own domain, so loading a page doesn't contact Google Fonts or image services.

Who processes data for us

  • Vercel Inc. (USA) hosts the site and produces the server logs above. Data may be processed outside the EU, including in the United States. Vercel describes how it protects that data, including for international transfers, in its privacy policy.
  • Hostinger provides our email. Messages you send us are stored by them.

We don't sell or share personal data with anyone else, and we don't use it for advertising or automated decisions about you.

Embedded calculator and "Can I bring it?" box

Websites can embed our calculator and our "Can I bring it?" box. They work the same way there: your dates, and the destination and item you type, stay in your browser. Neither we nor the website you're on receive them from us. The embedded box doesn't log searches that find no match. That website's own privacy policy covers everything else on its pages.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us to access, correct or delete data about you, to restrict its use, to object to it, and to receive it in a portable format. Email support@odyssway.com; we'll reply within one month. In practice we hold almost nothing that identifies you. Server logs, for example, can't be linked to you by us, so we may not be able to find you in them.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. Ours is the Commission for Personal Data Protection (Комисия за защита на личните данни), 2 Prof. Tsvetan Lazarov Blvd., 1592 Sofia, Bulgaria, cpdp.bg, kzld@cpdp.bg. You can also complain in the EU country where you live or work.

Children

Odyssway isn't aimed at children and we don't knowingly collect data about them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects you materially, we'll say so on this page.
