Short answerIndian citizens need a visa to visit South Africa. Your visa sets how long you can stay.

How long you can stay
Your visa sets how long you can stay.
What you need
  • Valid passport
  • Completed visitor's visa application
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Proof of accommodation, itinerary, and sufficient funds
  • Visa fee payment
  • Application submitted in advance via a South African mission or visa application centre
Good to know
South Africa's Department of Home Affairs visa-exempt-countries list shows India's row as: Diplomatic 90 days / Official 90 days / Service 90 days / Ordinary: No. Ordinary Indian passport holders are therefore NOT visa-exempt and must obtain a visa before travel. I could not confirm this session whether South Africa's e-Visa system or Trusted Tour Operator Scheme currently extends to Indian applicants – the DHA e-Visa and visitor's-visa detail pages returned 404s during this research session.
