Short answerIndian citizens need a visa to visit Canada. Your visa sets how long you can stay.

How long you can stay
Your visa sets how long you can stay.
What you need
  • Valid passport (at least 6 months validity)
  • Temporary Resident Visa (TRV / visitor visa) approved before travel
  • Digital copy of passport bio-data page and any prior visa/stamp pages
  • Proof of financial support and ties to India (as required by IRCC)
Good to know
India is not on IRCC's eTA-required (fully visa-exempt) list, and India also does not appear on IRCC's 'select visa-required countries' eTA-X list (Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Panama, Philippines, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Seychelles, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay) — that eTA-X route additionally requires holding a Canadian visa in the last 10 years or a valid US non-immigrant visa. Indian citizens therefore must apply for and obtain a standard Temporary Resident Visa (visitor visa) before travelling, regardless of air/land entry. Stay length at the border is decided by an officer (commonly up to 6 months) rather than a fixed self-service figure.

Is your passport valid long enough?
