Short answerMexican citizens need a visa to visit South Africa. Your visa sets how long you can stay.

What you need
  • A South African visa obtained in advance from a South African embassy, high commission, consulate, or VFS Global visa application centre
Good to know
Mexican ordinary/tourist passport holders are not on South Africa's visa-exemption list — only diplomatic, official and service passport holders are exempt (those three columns show 90 days on the DHA schedule; the Ordinary column is blank). A South African visa is required before travel. Mexico is reported to be one of the first four nationalities (alongside China, India and Indonesia) eligible to use South Africa's new Electronic Travel Authorisation, which launched 12 Aug 2026 and may offer an alternative route to a standard consular visa — not confirmed against a primary DHA source in this pass; re-verify soon (see data/UNVERIFIED/TODO.md).
