Good to know
Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs travel recommendations (last updated 22 Jul 2026): a visa is compulsory 'sin excepción'; it can be obtained as an e-Visa (evisa.gov.kh, only valid at certain border posts) or 'Visado en frontera ("on arrival") en todos los puestos fronterizos', bringing a passport photo and paying the fee (dollars in cash recommended); some airlines require an onward ticket before boarding if you plan to get a visa on arrival. 'El visado de turismo es válido por un mes y puede ser extendido una única vez en la oficina de inmigración de Phnom Penh.' Overstay: a fine depending on days overstayed, plus possible detention and expulsion. The 1-month stay is modelled as 30 days (the e-Visa portal states 'Length of Stay: 1 month'; UK and Canadian advice state 30 days). Alternative to the visa on arrival: the official Cambodia e-Visa (evisa.gov.kh, Ministry of Foreign Affairs) Visa T (tourist) costs USD 30, single entry, valid 3 months from issue (that is the window to enter, not the stay), length of stay 1 month, processed in 3 business days; requires passport valid more than six months at entry, a digital photo and a Visa/MasterCard. e-Visa is accepted only at Techo International (Phnom Penh), Siem Reap Angkor and Sihanoukville airports and the Bavet and Trapeang Kriel land borders; Cham Yeam and Poipet are listed as temporarily closed to e-Visa entry. Beware of unofficial lookalike e-visa websites. Cambodia e-Arrival (CeA) card: the official e-Arrival site (arrival.gov.kh, General Department of Immigration) says 'All travelers are required to fill in the Cambodia e-Arrival even if they have been granted VISA' and that it can be submitted 'within 7 days prior to your arrival'; submission is free. It also replaces the paper customs and health declarations. (The GDI homepage wording is 'within 7 days before or on arrival'.) Arriving visitors receive a 'v-Pass' by email instead of an ink entry stamp.
