Short answerGerman citizens can visit Albania without a visa. Up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

How long you can stay
Up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
What you need
  • Passport or German ID card (Personalausweis), valid for at least 3 months at the time of entry — a provisional ID card (vorläufiger Personalausweis) is not accepted
Good to know
No visa needed: EU citizens enter Albania visa-free (confirmed by Auswärtiges Amt — Albanien: Reise- und Sicherheitshinweise (Einreise und Zoll), which also gives the document rule above). Albania's Law No. 79/2021 "On Foreigners" (Art. 29(2), as amended 2025) gives visa-exempt foreigners 90 days within 180 days from entry, unless a bilateral agreement or Council of Ministers decision provides otherwise; after using 90 days you may re-enter once the 180-day period has passed (Art. 29(3)). Register with the local border and migration authority within 10 days of entry as a rule (Art. 29(5)).
