Short answerGerman citizens can get a visa on arrival in Rwanda. Up to 30 days per visit.

How long you can stay
Up to 30 days per visit.
What you need
  • Valid passport
  • Visa fee payable on arrival or online in advance (not exceeding USD 50 for a single-entry visa, USD 70 for multiple entry)
Good to know
Rwanda's DGIE grants visa on arrival to citizens of all countries (since 1 Jan 2018). Germany is not a member of the African Union or the Commonwealth, and is not among La Francophonie's members, associate members or observers (OIF official list, francophonie.org, checked 2026-10-02), nor on Rwanda's named 90-day free-visa list — so the fee-paying visa on arrival applies, for a 30-day visit. The DGIE states visa fees "must not exceed 50 USD for single entry visa or 70 USD for multiple entry". The visa can also be applied for online in advance via the Irembo government portal.
