Short answerGerman citizens can visit Thailand without a visa. Up to 30 days per visit.

How long you can stay
Up to 30 days per visit.
What you need
  • Passport valid for the whole stay (French, Spanish and Italian foreign ministries advise at least 6 months' validity from entry)
  • Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), submitted online within 3 days before arrival — required for every entry
  • Proof of accommodation and of onward travel within 30 days of arrival; officers may also ask for proof of funds (THB 20,000 per person) or interview you
Good to know
German ordinary-passport holders are on Thailand's 30-day visa-exemption list (60 countries/territories, EU listed as a bloc) that replaced the former 60-day scheme from 15 September 2026, after Ministry of Interior notifications were published in the Royal Gazette on 31 August 2026 (Gazette site itself not reachable for automated checks). Tourism only — other purposes need a visa. An extension of up to 30 days may be requested from the Immigration Bureau (Royal Thai Embassy London). Entries under the exemption are limited to twice per calendar year: the Royal Thai Embassy London states this generally, while TAT describes the limit as applying to land-border entries — check before planning repeat visits. People who entered under the old 60-day scheme before 15 September 2026 keep the stay they were granted. Cross-checked: the German Federal Foreign Office (auswaertiges-amt.de, as of 2 Oct 2026) confirms the 30-day limit from 15 September 2026.
