Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs overseas safety page states (translated): Albania grants visa exemption to Japanese nationals; for short-term stays of up to 90 days including the day of entry, no visa is required. Staying longer requires obtaining a visa from the Albanian Embassy in Tokyo beforehand, or applying at a local police station after entering Albania. Corrected 2026-10-05 from a flat 90 days per entry to 90 days within 180: Albania's Law No. 79/2021 "On Foreigners" (Art. 29(2), as amended 2025) gives visa-exempt foreigners 90 days within 180 days from entry, unless a bilateral agreement or Council of Ministers decision provides otherwise; after using 90 days you may re-enter once the 180-day period has passed (Art. 29(3)). Register with the local border and migration authority within 10 days of entry as a rule (Art. 29(5)).
