Short answerFrench citizens can visit Albania without a visa. Up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

How long you can stay
Up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
What you need
  • Valid French passport or national ID card (CNI), valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned return date — Albania does not recognise the 5-year extension of older French ID cards, so the date printed on the card is what counts
Good to know
No visa needed: EU citizens enter Albania visa-free (confirmed by France Diplomatie — Conseils aux voyageurs: Albanie, Entrée/Séjour, which also gives the document rule above). Albania's Law No. 79/2021 "On Foreigners" (Art. 29(2), as amended 2025) gives visa-exempt foreigners 90 days within 180 days from entry, unless a bilateral agreement or Council of Ministers decision provides otherwise; after using 90 days you may re-enter once the 180-day period has passed (Art. 29(3)). Register with the local border and migration authority within 10 days of entry as a rule (Art. 29(5)).
