What you need
  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from arrival (a national ID card is also accepted for tourism — see notes)
  • Tourist visa bought on arrival at an Egyptian international airport (single entry US$30, cash), or an e-Visa obtained in advance at visa2egypt.gov.eg (printed)
  • Travel itinerary and hotel booking details
Good to know
The Egypt e-Visa Portal (Ministry of Interior, visa2egypt.gov.eg/eVisa/FAQ, checked 2026-10-02) lists France among nationalities eligible for an e-Visa (tourism: single entry US$30, multiple entries US$65; passport valid 6 months from arrival). On arrival: French travel advice says the tourist visa can be bought on arrival at every Egyptian international airport (24-hour counters, cash in USD or EUR; US$30 single / US$60 multiple) and runs for an initial one month, extendable (legal source). French nationals may also enter with a national ID card valid at least 6 months after the return date (per French travel advice). No fixed day count is published here: Egypt's own portal does not state the permitted stay, and EU governments describe it differently (30 days for NL/ES, 'one month' for FR, 28 days for IT, not stated by DE) — check the date on the visa you are given. Working, including journalism, is not allowed on a tourist visa.
