What you need
  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival, with at least one blank page
  • Either a tourist visa bought on arrival at an approved Egyptian airport (USD 30, cash only; a digital visa on arrival at Cairo International Airport is USD 36 by card from 1 August 2026), or an e-Visa obtained in advance at visa2egypt.gov.eg (printed)
  • Travel itinerary and accommodation details
Good to know
UK government travel advice (gov.uk, checked 2026-10-05) says British citizens can get a visa on arrival at approved airports, valid for up to 30 days, or an e-visa in advance, valid for up to 3 months; the Egypt e-Visa Portal lists the UK as e-Visa eligible. Because the two routes give different lengths, no single day count is shown — check the visa you're given. Arriving by air at Sharm El-Sheikh for under 15 days at specified resorts, you get a free entry-permission stamp instead of a visa.
