Short answerFrench citizens can visit Qatar without a visa. Up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

How long you can stay
Up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
What you need
  • Passport valid for at least 3 months on arrival (MOI). Note: GOV.UK, Auswärtiges Amt, France Diplomatie, Canada and NZ advise at least 6 months — carry 6 months to be safe with airlines
  • Confirmed return or onward ticket
  • Confirmed hotel reservation in Qatar for the visit, or a clear address of a friend/relative where you will stay
  • Health insurance from an insurance company accredited by Qatar's Ministry of Public Health (MOI lists it as a condition of the on-arrival visa; GOV.UK/Auswärtiges Amt describe it as mandatory for stays over 30 days)
Good to know
Qatar MOI page 'Free On-arrival Tourist Visa for 90 Days Non-extendable for (43) Countries' lists France. Conditions: '1- Passport valid for at least three months 2- Availability of confirmed return ticket 3- Hotel reservation at any hotel in Qatar during the visit period, or a clear address of a friend or relative. 4- Health insurance from an accredited insurance company.' The stay is free of charge and NOT extendable. The Auswärtiges Amt (Germany, Stand 09.10.2026) describes this same waiver as valid for 180 days from issue, multiple entry, allowing at most 90 days of stay within that validity, and Nederland Wereldwijd says 'maximaal 90 dagen binnen 180 dagen'. Modelled as a rolling 90-days-in-180 window, the stricter representation of '90 days within a 180-day validity period'. France Diplomatie (15 Sep 2026): 'Pour les courts séjours d'une durée inférieure à 90 jours, les ressortissants français sont dispensés de visa'; return/onward ticket and proof of accommodation required; insurance compulsory for stays over 30 days. Conflict noted: MOI requires passport validity of 3 months, but several travellers' governments (GOV.UK, Auswärtiges Amt, France, Canada, NZ) say 6 months; MOI is the controlling authority, documentsNeeded flags both. Health insurance: MOI lists 'Health insurance from an accredited insurance company' as a condition of every on-arrival category and its Entry Permits page says 'A valid health insurance policy from insurance companies registered with the Ministry of Public Health is required to enter Qatar', while GOV.UK and Auswärtiges Amt say it is compulsory for stays over 30 days (GOV.UK: standard premium QAR 50 per person per month). VisitQatar notes 'Visa-free entry is now the new term defining previously visa on arrival. Nothing changed except the name.' Entry is at the discretion of the border officer.
