Can you bring tobacco or cigarettes to Taiwan?

Short answer
Allowed, within limits

  • Tobacco

    allowed, within limits

Passengers aged 20 or over may bring in duty-free: "200 cigarettes, or 25 cigars, or 1 pound of tobacco, or 200 designated tobacco products" (the last covering products like heated-tobacco sticks that aren't cigarettes/cigars/loose tobacco).

Passengers under 20 are not entitled to this concession at all. Fines for bringing in undeclared amounts above the allowance: NT$500 per carton of cigarettes, NT$3,000 per pound of tobacco, and NT$4,000 per 25 cigars. Vaping devices and e-liquid are a completely separate, much stricter rule — see the e-cigarettes entry for Taiwan; they are not covered by this tobacco allowance at all.

Also covers: tobacco, cigarettes, cigars, cigar, rolling tobacco
