Can you bring meat or dairy products to Taiwan?
Short answer
Prohibited
Meat & dairy
prohibited"Almost all kinds of meat products made from land animals are NOT permitted to carry into Taiwan." The fine for bringing in undeclared meat products generally is "NTD 10,000 to NTD 1,000,000" under infectious-disease-prevention law. Pork specifically is under a further, harsher rule: Taiwan has "banned the import of all kinds of pork products from ASF [African Swine Fever]-infected areas," with a first-time violation fined at a flat "NTD 200,000, regardless of nationality," rising toward NT$1 million for repeat violations; foreign nationals who don't pay the fine at the border are repatriated.
Taiwan detected its first-ever domestic African Swine Fever case in October 2025, so enforcement has tightened further. This page does not separately address dairy products — treat dairy as an open question rather than assuming it's exempt from the general animal-product restriction.
