Can you bring meat or dairy products to Malaysia?
Short answer
Depends on specifics
Meat & dairy
depends on specificsImport of meat and edible meat offal, dairy produce, birds' eggs and honey, and of any domestic animal or its meat/eggs, requires prior official approval: a MAQIS import permit and inspection (Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Act 2011) and, for food products, approval of the Ministry of Health's Food Safety and Quality Division (Customs (Prohibition of Imports) Order 2023).
No traveller exemption or personal-quantity allowance appears in the Order. Enforcement is real: Malaysia's state news reported MAQIS seizing 40 pork sausages and 10 chickens from a passenger at KLIA in 2025 for lacking a MAQIS import permit and an origin-country health certificate, under s.11(1) of Act 728. The Customs Traveler's Guide separately lists 'food preparations' up to RM150 as duty-exempt, which is a duty rule and does not override the permit requirement.
Also covers: meat, dairy, cheese, milk, pork, sausage, eggs, honey, chicken, beef
