    Cash and bearer negotiable instruments amounting to USD 10,000 or more (entering or leaving) must be declared on Customs Form No. 7 at the customs counters. Importing or exporting Malaysian ringgit requires prior written permission from Bank Negara Malaysia.

    Legal basis: s.28B(1) Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 and Regulation 55, Customs Regulations 2019. Failure to declare is an offence punishable by a fine of up to RM3 million or up to 5 years' imprisonment, or both.
