Short answerMalaysian citizens can visit China without a visa. Up to 30 days per visit, and no more than 90 days in any 180-day period.

How long you can stay
Up to 30 days per visit, and no more than 90 days in any 180-day period.
What you need
  • Valid ordinary Malaysian passport with at least 6 months' validity
  • Proof of onward/return travel or supporting documents on request (invitation, tickets, reservations)
  • Accommodation registration within 24 hours of arrival
Good to know
Malaysia is NOT on China's unilateral visa-free list; instead it has a separate China–Malaysia Mutual Visa Exemption Agreement in force since 17 July 2025, covering ordinary passports for vacation/tourism, family/friend visits, business, exchange, private affairs, medical treatment, and crew transit. Each stay is capped at 30 days, with a cumulative limit of 90 days within any rolling 180-day period (stays before 17 July 2025 do not count toward the cumulative total). Excludes residence, employment, study, and media work. Border officers may request supporting documents; extensions beyond the visa-free period require applying to local public security authorities before it expires.
