Short answerMalaysian citizens need an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) before travelling to India. Up to 30 days per visit.

How long you can stay
Up to 30 days per visit.
What you need
  • Valid passport with at least 6 months validity from the date of application
  • Approved e-Tourist Visa / Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), applied for online at indianvisaonline.gov.in at least 4 days before arrival
  • Return or onward journey ticket
  • Proof of sufficient funds for the stay
  • Recent passport-style photograph (uploaded with the online application)
Good to know
India's e-Tourist Visa (e-T1 V) is issued as an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA): duration "One Month (30 Days)" from the date of first arrival, multiple entries permitted within that window, non-extendable and non-convertible. Longer 1-year and 5-year e-Tourist Visa options also exist (multiple entries), but both cap total stay at 180 days per calendar year rather than granting a longer single visit — this row reflects the standard 30-day option. Applicants must hold a passport valid at least 6 months from the date of application and show a return/onward ticket and sufficient funds; apply online at least 4 days before arrival. Diplomatic/official passport holders, and applicants of Pakistani origin or holding a Pakistani passport, are not eligible for any e-Visa category.

The rule: Valid passport with at least 6 months validity from the date of application
