Can you bring cannabis or CBD to Thailand?

Short answer
Prohibited

  • Cannabis

    prohibited

Thailand's domestic cannabis law has reversed direction multiple times (decriminalized for flower/products in 2022, reclassified as a medical-only 'controlled herb' from June 2025 with a PT 33 prescription required above 0.2% THC), and remains politically unsettled as of this verification — but that domestic-sale question is separate from importation. For bringing cannabis or hemp-based products INTO Thailand from abroad, the Thai FDA is explicit and unqualified: cannabis- or hemp-based foods, cosmetics containing cannabis/hemp extract, and herbal products containing cannabis or hemp are all listed as not allowed to import, with no personal-use carve-out and no exception for a foreign medical-cannabis prescription. Treat all CBD and cannabis products as prohibited for import regardless of THC content or how they are labeled/legal in the traveler's home country.

Also covers: cannabis, marijuana, weed, thc, hashish, cbd, cbd oil, hemp extract
