Overstaying in Latvia: fine, entry ban and enforcement

This is what Latvia's own national law adds on top of the EU-wide entry-ban mechanism — every Schengen country runs that same baseline process, explained on the general overstay-penalties page, but the fine amount and exact enforcement style are set by each country individually.

Fine

Up to EUR 350 (70 fine-units × EUR 5), Immigration Law § 68.2, for staying without a valid travel document, visa or residence permit, or for otherwise violating stay conditions

Entry ban

No Latvia-specific figure was found on PMLP's own pages this pass — not confirmed, and not guessed

How it's enforced in practice

PMLP (Latvia's Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs) issues return decisions for irregular stay. Overstay is typically only detected via a police check or when the person seeks a public-authority service, not proactively.

This is informational only, not legal advice — consult a qualified adviser if you're facing an actual return decision or entry ban.
