Short answerAustralian citizens can visit Malaysia without a visa. Up to 90 days per visit.

How long you can stay
Up to 90 days per visit.
What you need
  • Australian passport valid for at least 6 months (Smartraveller: required to use the auto-gates)
  • Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC), submitted online through the Malaysian Immigration website — 3 days before arrival for auto-gate use
Good to know
The High Commission of Malaysia in Canberra (MFA Malaysia) states: "Australian passport holders do not need to apply for VISA before travelling to Malaysia." Australia's Smartraveller advice (as extracted by search; a direct fetch of the page timed out during this pass) says Australian passport holders can get a 90-day tourism visa on arrival in most circumstances and must complete the MDAC first. The 90-day figure therefore rests on Smartraveller's wording rather than a directly read page — confirm on Smartraveller/Immigration before booking. Visas are required for work, study and other non-tourism purposes.

Is your passport valid long enough?

The rule: Australian passport valid for at least 6 months (Smartraveller: required to use the auto-gates)

These dates stay in your browser. They aren't saved or sent anywhere. Six months from arrival, or after you leave? How the rules compare
