- What you need
- Passport valid for the whole stay
- Onward or return ticket (may be requested at the border)
- Proof of sufficient funds (may be requested at the border)
- Good to know
- Visa-free: 'Argentina' is on the list in Art. 3 literal A of Resolución 5488 de 2022 (as modified by Res. 8558 de 2025), whose holders may 'ingresar, permanecer y salir de Colombia, exentos de requisito de visa' for airport transit or short-stay activities (short stay defined as under 90 days, extendable up to 180 days) that are not paid in Colombia. Colombian law: visitors from visa-exempt countries get a Permiso de Ingreso y Permanencia (PIP) at the border. A Tourism Permit (PT) is 'hasta por noventa (90) días calendario' per entry (Resolución 3167 de 2019 Art. 14, Migración Colombia). Migración Colombia counts each foreigner's days so they do not exceed 180 calendar days, continuous or discontinuous, in the same calendar year (1 Jan–31 Dec). Extension: the Permiso Temporal de Permanencia (PTP, 'prórroga') extends a Tourism Permit by up to 90 more calendar days, never beyond 180 days in the calendar year; apply online (Formulario Único de Trámites) at least 5 business days before the PIP expires; 2026 fee COP 150,000 (Resolución 0599 de 2026); issued by email 3 business days after payment; grant is discretionary. Modelled here as 180 days in any 365-day window, which is stricter than the legal calendar-year count (the legal rule would allow, e.g., 180 days ending 31 Dec and a new allowance from 1 Jan) — and each single entry is still capped at 90 days unless extended. Entry documents (Migración Colombia 'Requisitos de entrada y salida del país'): valid passport, plus 'tiquete de viaje de salida y demostrar solvencia económica, según corresponda'; officers may also ask for invitation letters or lodging (Res. 3167/2019 Art. 8 par. 2). Any paid activity requires a visa. Check-Mig online pre-registration (72 h to 1 h before travel) is free and explicitly 'no es de carácter obligatorio' per Migración Colombia. Conflict noted: gov.uk (FCDO, updated 2026-10-06) says visitors may extend 'by up to 120 days' and 'cannot remain ... more than 180 days in any 12-month period'; the Colombian sources (PTP page, Res. 3167/2019) say a 90-day PTP and 180 days per calendar year — the Colombian rule controls. Travel advice (gov.uk) adds: yellow-fever vaccination certificate required if arriving from certain countries with transmission risk; Colombian dual nationals must enter and leave on their Colombian document.
