Can you bring tobacco or cigarettes to Colombia?

Short answer
Allowed, within limits

  • Tobacco

    allowed, within limits

Counts toward the general USD 2,000 duty-free baggage allowance; no more than 10 units of the same kind per traveller. Excess value pays a 15% single tax.

Same legal basis as alcohol: Decreto 1165 de 2019 Arts. 266 (10 units of the same class = not commercial), 268 (USD 2,000 franchise) and 270 (15% single tax on the excess). No separate litre/carton quota for this product appears in the customs decree: it simply counts toward the general duty-free allowance. What counts as one 'unit' (pack vs carton) is not defined in the decree — keep quantities clearly personal. Declare anything over the allowance on DIAN Form 530.

Also covers: tobacco, cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, rolling tobacco, cigarrillos, tabaco
