Can you bring cash to Colombia?
Short answer
Allowed, declaration may be required
Cash
allowed, declaration may be requiredDeclare cash, Colombian pesos or monetary instruments over USD 10,000 (or equivalent) on DIAN Form 530, both entering and leaving.
DIAN: travellers must file the 'Declaración de Equipaje, de Dinero o Títulos representativos de Dinero – Viajeros' (Form 530) when the amount in foreign currency, Colombian cash or monetary instruments exceeds 'USD 10.000 ... o su equivalente en otras monedas'; amounts up to USD 10,000 need no declaration. DIAN's Form 530 page states the same threshold. Cross-checked: gov.uk ('You can bring up to 10,000 US dollars-worth of any currency ... declare anything above this amount with ... DIAN'). Undeclared excess may be retained by customs (per DIAN Form 530 page; exact sanction not re-read).
Also covers: cash, money, currency, dollars, euros, pesos, traveller's cheques, efectivo, dinero
