Can you bring fresh fruit or produce to Peru?

Short answer
Depends on specifics

  • Fresh produce

    depends on specifics

Declare all plant products. Up to 1 kg each of industrially dried herbs/flowers/fruit and vegetables, ground spices, edible mushrooms, flours, grains and whole spices are allowed after SENASA inspection. Fresh or naturally dried fruit and flowers, wood, live insects and plants need prior SENASA authorisation. Soil is not allowed.

SENASA 'Amigo viajero': products allowed in accompanied baggage and only checked by the SENASA inspector, 'Sólo hasta 1 kg': industrially dried medicinal and aromatic herbs; industrially dried cut flowers and foliage; industrially dried fruit and vegetables; ground herbs and spices; fresh or dried edible mushrooms; flours, starches, semolina; grains; whole spices. More than that requires meeting SENASA rules before travel. 'Los productos frescos o secos naturalmente (frutas y flores), maderas, insectos vivos, plantas o partes de ellas... requieren de una autorización previa por parte del SENASA y no pueden ingresar al país en tu equipaje sin cumplir los controles fitosanitarios. No está autorizado el ingreso de suelo o tierra.' Declare plant products on the customs declaration. Queries: scv@senasa.gob.pe. SUNAT also lists 'productos agropecuarios' as restricted goods.
