Can you bring a drone to Peru?
Short answer
Depends on specifics
Drones
depends on specificsRecreational drones under 2 kg take-off mass fall outside Peru's RPAS regulation. Heavier drones, or any non-recreational use, must be registered with the DGAC (within 30 working days of acquisition) and non-recreational operation needs DGAC licences.
D.S. N° 012-2026-MTC (Regulation of Law 30740, published 29 May 2026) applies to national and foreign persons operating RPAS. Art. 3.2(b) excludes 'La Aeronave Pilotada a Distancia de uso recreativo o aerodeportivo que tenga una masa máxima de despegue inferior a dos (2) kilogramos'. Art. 8: RPA/RPAS used in the Open or Specific category must be entered in the DGAC's Register of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (free, per NTC 001-2015) within 30 working days of acquisition. Art. 25/30: operations other than recreational use need an Open-category operating licence and a remote-pilot licence; the licence form asks for a DNI, passport or carné de extranjería. The regulation's Open/Specific-category provisions take effect only once the DGAC updates its technical rules (within two years), so NTC 001-2015 still governs in the meantime. Flights in Natural Protected Areas are supervised together with SERNANP (art. 7.2). This row covers flying rules; we found no SUNAT traveller rule specific to bringing a drone into Peru.
Also covers: drone, drones, rpas, quadcopter, uav, dji
