Can you bring a weapon to Peru?

Short answer
Depends on specifics

  • Weapons

    depends on specifics

Restricted: arms and ammunition need prior authorisation from the competent Peruvian authority and must be declared.

SUNAT lists 'Armas y municiones' among 'Mercancía restringida que requiere autorización de una o más entidades competentes para su ingreso', which must be declared on the Declaración Jurada de Equipaje. SUNAT's page does not name the authorising body or set out the procedure; without the authorisation the item can be held in customs custody (SUNAT 'Ingresar equipaje al país'). We have not verified the authorising agency's traveller procedure.

Also covers: weapons, firearms, guns, ammunition, rifle, pistol, hunting rifle
