Can you bring cash to Georgia?

Short answer
Allowed, must be declared

  • Cash

    allowed, must be declared

An individual must declare cash (national and/or foreign currency), cheques and/or securities with a total sum of more than GEL 30,000 (or the equivalent in another currency) when importing or exporting them.

The threshold applies to both bringing money in and taking it out, and covers cheques and securities as well as banknotes. Quoted from the Revenue Service's brochure ('When is an individual obliged to declare goods?'). Penalties for failing to declare aren't stated in the brochure, so none are asserted here.

Also covers: cash, currency, money, cheques, checks, securities, lari, gel
