Can you bring cash to Egypt?
Short answer
Allowed, declaration may be required
Cash
allowed, declaration may be requiredDeclare foreign currency worth more than US$10,000 on arrival; there is no upper limit on foreign currency. You can bring at most EGP 5,000 in Egyptian pounds into or out of Egypt.
Conflict between sources, recorded per AGENTS.md §3.8: the UK says to declare foreign currency worth 'more than 10,000 US dollars'; Canada says 'US$10,000 or more'. Declaring at exactly US$10,000 avoids the question. No Egyptian government page stating the rule could be read (customs.gov.eg's currency page is an exchange-rate table; the Central Bank's circulars need a JavaScript app), so this row rests on two foreign governments' travel advice and the Qatari embassy in Cairo.
Also covers: cash, currency, money, foreign currency declaration, egyptian pounds
