Can you bring a weapon to Singapore?

Short answer
Depends on specifics

Permits to arrange before you travel

  • Weapons

    depends on specifics

Prohibited outright: concealed weapons, catapults and slingshots. Everything else on the police list needs Police Regulatory Department approval before import, and for individuals most of it is 'not allowed' at all: pepper spray, stun and Taser guns, crossbows, flick, butterfly and throwing knives, knuckledusters, nunchaku, ammunition, explosives and fireworks, and toy or replica guns. Swords, spears and daggers can be approved case by case. Real guns are allowed for individuals only for sports shooting at a licensed club, kept at an approved armoury.

Travellers bringing a controlled item must apply for approval at least 2 weeks before travel (processing typically takes 2–3 weeks), declare it to Customs/ICA on arrival and show the approval; items without approval are seized. If you arrive with a prohibited item, declare it to Customs/ICA officers immediately. Importing without approval may lead to seizure, prosecution, fines and/or imprisonment. Toy or replica guns that closely resemble a real gun are not allowed, and personal collection or self-defence don't count as legitimate purposes.

    3. Travel only after you have PRD's written approval.
    4. On arrival, declare the item to Customs/ICA and show the approval document when asked.

At the border: Items without approval are seized. If you arrive with a prohibited item, declare it to Customs/ICA officers immediately.
