Can you bring fresh fruit or produce to Jamaica?

Short answer
Depends on specifics

  • Fresh produce

    depends on specifics

Fresh fruit, vegetables, plants, plant products and ground provisions need an import permit from the Ministry of Agriculture's Plant Quarantine Division; declare them on the C5.

JCA Prohibited & Restricted Items guide (March 2025): 'Importing agricultural items can unknowingly bring along harmful pests and diseases … these items are restricted and require a permit from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.' Plant Quarantine list: 'Fresh Fruits & Vegetables', 'Plants & Plant products', 'Red Peas (in commercial quantities)', 'Ground Provisions', 'Honey (Prohibited Item)' (contact: Plant Quarantine Division, (876) 977-0637). The C5 card question 13a requires declaring fruits, plants, cut flowers, vegetables, soil, plant material and food. Without a permit, expect such items to be refused or confiscated. The guide says it is not exhaustive and the list may change.

Also covers: fruit, vegetables, fresh produce, plants, seeds, flowers, cut flowers, soil, ground provisions, red peas, nuts
