Can you bring alcohol to Jamaica?

Short answer
Allowed, within limits

  • Alcohol

    allowed, within limits

Travellers aged 18+ may bring 1 litre of spirits and 1 litre of wine duty-free (the stricter of two official figures; the Customs FAQ says 2 litres of alcoholic beverages). Declare anything above this.

Two official Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) figures differ. The JCA FAQ (live page, no date shown) says 'All passengers, 18 years and over, are allowed the following without payment of duty, provided they do not exceed the amount indicated, and the items are properly declared: … Alcoholic beverages .. 2 litres'. The official Immigration/Customs C5 card (JCA PDF, 2020 upload, https://jca.gov.jm/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/C5new.x11699.pdf) says passengers and crew may import free of duty '1 litre of Spirits; 1 litre of Wine'. Both add up to 2 litres, but the C5 splits it by type, so the stricter reading (no more than 1 litre of spirits) is shown. Bringing alcohol in bulk is a matter for the Spirits Pool Association (JCA Prohibited & Restricted Items guide). Goods over your allowance must be declared on the C5 and you use the red line.
