Can you bring fresh fruit or produce to the Bahamas?
Short answer
Prohibited
Fresh produce
prohibitedFresh fruit, vegetables, plants and flowers need an import permit from the Department of Agriculture before you travel. Without one, don't bring them. Declare all food.
Bahamas Customs General Traveler's Questions (2 Jan 2026), Q14: 'permits are required to import fruits, vegetables and plant/flowers from the Department of Agriculture prior to importation.' All food must be declared; 'Failure to declare food products can result in forfeiture and or fines.' Verdict is 'prohibited' because, without a permit obtained in advance, you may not bring these items. With a permit, they may be imported under its terms.
