Can you bring cannabis or CBD to the Bahamas?
Short answer
Prohibited
Cannabis
prohibitedOfficial Bahamas visitor guidance (Ministry of Tourism FAQ, health and safety tips): 'The purchase and usage of marijuana is illegal and enforced with strict penalties.' Do not bring cannabis in any form. A foreign medical-cannabis card does not let you import it. Cross-checks: Auswärtiges Amt says drug use and trafficking, 'auch in geringsten Mengen' (even in the smallest amounts), are prosecuted very strictly, with heavy fines and prison and usually no bail. GOV.UK says 'Penalties for possessing or trafficking drugs are severe'. Legislative context: the Cannabis Act, 2024 was published in the Extraordinary Official Gazette (26 July 2024). It creates a licensed medical/religious cannabis regime, including a provision that 'A pharmacist may dispense medical cannabis to a visitor' who holds a medical card from a recognised jurisdiction and a prescription. It also contains a section titled 'Unlawful import and export of cannabis' (s.58). We could not confirm that the visitor-dispensing scheme is in operation, and nothing in it allows a traveller to bring their own supply. CBD: no official source addresses CBD separately; the Cannabis Act defines cannabis broadly, so treat CBD/THC products as cannabis and do not bring them.
Also covers: cannabis, marijuana, weed, thc, edibles, hash, cbd, medical marijuana, medical cannabis
