Can you bring cash to Oman?

Short answer
Allowed, declaration may be required

  • Cash

    allowed, declaration may be required

Travellers arriving or departing must declare currency, bearer securities, banknotes, precious metals or gemstones convertible into cash worth OMR 6,000 or more, or the equivalent, on the customs declaration form. Not declaring is an offence under Article 53 of the Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Law.

The page's general rule says amounts that "exceed" OMR 6,000, while its declaration section says the form is for "whoever carries 6,000 (six thousand) Omani Rials or more"; we use the stricter "or more".

Also covers: cash, currency, money, traveller's cheques, bearer securities, precious metals, omani rial, omr
