Can you bring cash to Qatar?
Short answer
Allowed, declaration may be required
Cash
allowed, declaration may be requiredDeclare cash (Qatari riyals or foreign currency), bearer instruments (travellers cheques, cheques, money orders, promissory notes), precious metals (gold, silver, platinum) or precious stones worth more than QAR 50,000 in total, on the customs declaration form, when entering or leaving Qatar.
GOV.UK: 'If you are taking money, precious metals or gems worth more than 50,000 Qatari riyals into Qatar, you must complete a declaration form', covering currency, travellers cheques, money orders, cheques, promissory notes, precious metals and precious stones; breaking the rules can mean fines, imprisonment or seizure. Carrying it is legal; failing to declare is the offence.
Also covers: cash, currency, money, qatari riyal, qar, banknotes, travellers cheques, gold, jewellery, precious metals, gems, diamonds, cash declaration
