Can you bring alcohol to Qatar?
Short answer
Prohibited
Alcohol
prohibitedTravellers may not bring alcohol into Qatar. Auswärtiges Amt (Stand 09.10.2026): 'Die Einfuhr von Drogen, Alkohol, pornografischen Materials sowie religiöser Bücher und Materialien ist strengstens untersagt.' Cross-checked: Japan MOFA lists 酒類(みりん等の調味料を含む) — alcoholic drinks, including cooking seasonings such as mirin — among prohibited imports; Nederland Wereldwijd: 'Neem geen alcohol en varkensvlees(producten) mee naar Qatar'; France Diplomatie also lists alcohol as prohibited. Inside Qatar alcohol is sold only in licensed hotels/restaurants/bars and to resident permit holders (GOV.UK); public drinking can mean up to 6 months' prison or a QAR 3,000 fine. Note: alcohol is not on the customs.gov.qa tariff prohibited-goods list, and no Qatari-authority page stating the import ban was read; the verdict rests on three travellers' governments that agree.
Also covers: alcohol, wine, beer, spirits, liquor, whisky, vodka, champagne, mirin, duty free alcohol
