Short answerCanadian citizens need an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) before travelling to South Korea. Up to 180 days per visit.

How long you can stay
Up to 180 days per visit.
What you need
  • Valid passport
  • e-Arrival Card (submit online up to 72 hours before arrival, or on arrival)
  • Proof of onward/return ticket
  • K-ETA approval if traveling after the temporary exemption ends
Good to know
Canada has a special reciprocal visa-waiver agreement giving Canadian citizens up to 180 days (6 months) visa-free, longer than the standard 90-day allowance for most other nationalities - confirmed directly on K-ETA's own eligible-countries page ('Allowed Period of Stay: 06 Months'). K-ETA is temporarily waived for Canadians through December 31, 2026, independently corroborated by the Government of Canada's official travel advisory ('Canadians are exempt from the Korea Electronic Travel Authority (K-ETA) requirement until December 31, 2026').
