Can you bring kratom to Australia?
Short answer
Prohibited
The official rule for Australia below names kratom. The same rule also covers the other medicines it lists, so read the conditions carefully.
Kratom
prohibitedDon't bring it. Australia's customs rules list kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) as a drug that can't be imported without a licence and a permit from the health department. The only traveller exception is for a drug a doctor prescribed to you and that was supplied under that prescription. Australia's Poisons Standard puts kratom and mitragynine in Schedule 9, prohibited substances.
Under the Poisons Standard, Schedule 9 substances should be available only for teaching, training, medical or scientific research, including clinical trials approved by health authorities. Phenibut is in Schedule 9 too.
Also covers: kratom, mitragyna speciosa, mitragynine
