Can you bring Adderall to Mexico?
Short answer
Depends on specifics
The official rule for Mexico below names Adderall. The same rule also covers the other medicines it lists, so read the conditions carefully.
Controlled medication
depends on specificsANAM's personal-baggage guidance states that for psychotropic substances ('Tratándose de sustancias psicotrópicas deberá mostrarse la receta médica correspondiente') the traveler must show the corresponding medical prescription — no separate advance import permit is described for personal-use quantities of psychotropics. ANAM doesn't list which medicines count as psychotropic. Amphetamine (Adderall), methylphenidate (Ritalin), alprazolam (Xanax), diazepam (Valium) and clonazepam (Klonopin) are psychotropic substances on the UN's international list; we haven't read Mexico's own schedule.
ANAM's traveler-facing text names only 'sustancias psicotrópicas' (psychotropic substances) — it does not mention 'estupefacientes' (narcotic drugs), the separate Mexican legal category that covers opioid painkillers such as codeine, oxycodone, and tramadol. Whether the same simple prescription-only rule extends to opioid painkillers, or whether they instead require the more formal COFEPRIS sanitary import permit used for controlled narcotics (Permiso Sanitario COFEPRIS-03-023, aimed primarily at commercial/institutional importers), is not addressed by ANAM's page, so opioid painkillers are deliberately left out of this entry's name list. No numeric day-supply or unit-quantity cap is published for psychotropics either. Travelers carrying opioid painkillers should confirm with COFEPRIS (tel. 800 033 5050) or a Mexican consulate before travel.
Also covers: controlled substance, psychotropic medication, adderall, amphetamine, ritalin, methylphenidate, xanax, alprazolam, valium, diazepam, klonopin, clonazepam
