Can you bring a weapon to Israel?

Short answer
Depends on specifics

  • Weapons

    depends on specifics

Weapons and weapon parts need approval from the Ministry of Public Security. Some items are banned outright, including knives other than pocket knives or knives for a legitimate trade or household purpose, gun-shaped tear gas canisters, starting pistols or gas-operated firearms and similar tools, explosives, and radar/laser jammer detectors.

Israel Tax Authority tourist customs guide: 'Weapon and parts — Ministry of Public Security, 077-2324444' is on the list of items whose import needs a competent authority's approval. The prohibited-items chapter lists, among others: 'A knife, other than a pocket knife and other than a knife intended for the usage in a profession, craft, business, household or any other legitimate purpose; A Radar Laser Jammer Detector; A wrap-like firearm (gun wrap pistol skin) or starting pistol-like or a gas-operated firearm or any similar tools; A tear gas canister, shaped like a firearm; ... Explosives and flammable substances'. The guide calls these 'examples', so the list is not complete. Pepper spray in non-firearm form and tasers are not specifically addressed.

Also covers: weapons, firearms, guns, ammunition, knives, pepper spray, tear gas, starting pistol, gun parts, taser
