Can you bring tobacco or cigarettes to Israel?
Short answer
Allowed, within limits
Tobacco
allowed, within limitsDuty-free: tobacco in all its forms up to 250 grams (cigarettes: up to 200, one carton) per entrant. Tobacco and smoking products not packaged and marked as Israeli law and Ministry of Health rules require are prohibited.
Israel Tax Authority green channel list: 'Tobacco in all its forms, weighing not more than 250 grams / 8.81 oz. (cigarettes - up to 200 cigarettes that are one carton)'. The guide's approvals chapter adds: 'It is prohibited to import tobacco and smoking products to Israel as defined in the Law on Restriction on Advertising and Marketing of Tobacco and Smoking Products -1983 ... which are not packaged and marked in accordance with the Law and the rules established by the Ministry of Health.' The guide does not say whether this packaging rule is enforced against a traveller's personal allowance; amounts above 250 g must be declared in the red channel.
