Can you bring a weapon to the Dominican Republic?
Short answer
Prohibited
Weapons
prohibitedFirearms are listed by Customs as prohibited or restricted items; there is no traveller allowance.
DGA Manual del Viajero, FAQ 14 ('¿Qué artículos están prohibidos o restringidos?'): 'La droga, sustancias psicotrópicas, armas de fuego, sustancias contaminantes, y otras que afecten la seguridad nacional.' The page lists them as 'prohibidos o restringidos' and does not describe any permit route for tourists; we did not research whether a separate firearm import authorisation exists (e.g. for sport shooting). Do not bring firearms or ammunition without prior written authorisation from the Dominican authorities. Knives, pepper spray and replica weapons are not mentioned.
Also covers: firearms, guns, ammunition, rifle, pistol, weapons, hunting rifle
