Can you bring cash to the Dominican Republic?
Short answer
Allowed, declaration may be required
Cash
allowed, declaration may be requiredCash of US$10,000 or more (or the equivalent in Dominican pesos or other currency), and bearer securities/instruments, must be declared to Customs on entry or exit using the official form, with documents showing the lawful origin of the funds. No tax is charged for carrying money.
FAQ 9 says 'No se cobran impuestos por portar dinero' and phrases the trigger as 'más de US$10,000'. Wording conflict on the same page (US$10,000 vs more than US$10,000) — we show the stricter reading: declare at US$10,000 or more. The declaration is part of the E-Ticket.
Also covers: cash, money, currency, dollars, euros, bearer instruments, cheques, travellers cheques, securities
