Can you bring tobacco or cigarettes to Ecuador?

Short answer
Allowed, within limits

  • Tobacco

    allowed, within limits

Travellers aged 18+ may bring duty-free: 20 packs of 20 cigarettes (400 cigarettes), 1 pound of tobacco and 25 cigars.

SENAE personal-effects list: 'En caso de pasajeros mayores de 18 años de edad, ... 20 cajetillas de cigarrillos de 20 unidades, 1 libra de tabaco y 25 unidades de habanos o cigarros.' E-cigarettes/vapes are not on the list (see separate row). Anything above an allowance, or not on SENAE's personal-effects list, is a 'bien tributable': declare it on the online Formulario de Registro Aduanero (FRA) and pay duties; taxable goods up to USD 2,000 can be cleared in the arrivals hall, above that they must go through a formal import. Goods not otherwise listed that have no volume/quantity restriction still count as personal effects up to USD 500 in total.

Also covers: tobacco, cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, rolling tobacco, pipe tobacco, cigarrillos
