Can you bring alcohol to Ecuador?

Short answer
Allowed, within limits

  • Alcohol

    allowed, within limits

Travellers aged 18+ may bring up to 3 litres of alcoholic drinks duty-free. If a single bottle takes you over the limit, you pay duty on the excess part.

The list PDF (May 2026) shows the old figure '5' struck out and replaced by '3'; SENAE's air-travellers page also says 'Hasta 3 litros de alcohol'. Anything above an allowance, or not on SENAE's personal-effects list, is a 'bien tributable': declare it on the online Formulario de Registro Aduanero (FRA) and pay duties; taxable goods up to USD 2,000 can be cleared in the arrivals hall, above that they must go through a formal import. Goods not otherwise listed that have no volume/quantity restriction still count as personal effects up to USD 500 in total.

Also covers: alcohol, wine, beer, spirits, liquor, whisky, vodka, rum, licor
