Can you bring meat or dairy products to Chile?

Short answer
Allowed, declaration may be required

  • Meat & dairy

    allowed, declaration may be required

All animal products must be declared on the joint Aduana–SAG sworn declaration; an SAG inspector decides whether each item may enter.

SAG 'Ingreso a Chile' (page read 2026-10-10; sag.gob.cl itself was down for maintenance, read via sag.cl): every person entering Chile must declare under oath any animal or plant products carried 'sin importar su cantidad o tiempo desde que lo obtuvo'; 'Un/a inspector/a SAG evaluará si el producto está en condiciones de ingresar al país'. The joint Aduana–SAG form lists animal products to declare: live animals (birds, bees, pets), 'Carne o derivados (jamón, embutidos, otros)', 'Leche y sus derivados (queso, yogurt, otros)', bee products (honey, royal jelly, propolis), veterinary medicines, semen/embryos, animal feed, 'Productos de origen animal y comida de uso personal, que los contenga', animal-origin crafts (antlers, horns, hooves), trophies and insect collections; CITES species need documentation. 'Declaring YES does not necessarily imply authorization'; a false SAG declaration 'constituye falta y será sancionado con multa' (no amount verified — see unverified). Luggage may be X-rayed or checked by SAG detector dogs. Which specific products are refused was not readable (SAG product pages unavailable), so the verdict is declaration rather than a ban.

Also covers: meat, dairy, cheese, milk, yoghurt, ham, sausages, salami, jerky, eggs, honey, propolis, royal jelly, pet food
